The hard part about communication is that people often don't know they are not clear in their communication. Most people believe they are very good at communicating and may not notice how common misunderstandings are and how ineffectiveness tends to persist. This course will expand your awareness of the process of communication, the models of communication, and the distinctions between verbal and nonverbal communication. Most people are unaware of how much their nonverbal communication delivers messages and signaling that may not be consistent with their verbal communication. We will also address barriers to effective communication and how to overcome them along with the topic of active listening as a component of effective communication.
