Video tutorial ini dibuat dengan QGIS 3.34 LTR, namun semua versi QGIS 3.xx dapat mengikuti kursus ini.1. Perkenalan Geopackage (.gpkg), GPKG adalah format milik QGIS. Meski format ini relatif baru namun popularitasnya menanjak dengan cepat karena banyak hal yang ditawarkan oleh format ini jauh mengungguli format Shapefile/SHP. GPKG tidak hanya menampung data vektor tapi juga data raster, spreadsheet, data tile tile bahkan mampu menyimpan QGIS Project Document (QGS/QGZ) sehingga GPKG benar-benar mampu membuat suatu lingkungan terisolir bagi sebuah project. GPKG dapat melakukan hal ini karena GPKG didukung oleh basisdata SQLite jadi GPKG bukan hanya sekedar format tapi juga basisdata/database2. Geopackage VS Shapefile.SHP secara de facto, selama 40 tahun telah menjadi format data vektor standar di industri GIS. Ketika SHP pertama sekali diluncurkan, format ini didukung oleh teknologi paling canggih pada saat itu misalnya dukungan basisdata DBF. Saat ini DBF tidak lagi digunakan karena sudah banyak kelemahan disana sini. Format penyimpanan data vektor kemudian di kembangkan lagi dengan masih menggunakan teknologi basisdata sebagai tulang punggung penyimpanan data namun dengan penyesuaian yang jauh lebih baik. Salah satu format penyimpanan data yang dikembangkan oleh QGIS adalah Geopackage/GPKG. GPKG didukung oleh basisdata SQLite yang canggih, ringan dan mudah digunakan. Kita akan head to head untuk membandingkan keunggulan dan kelemahan format SHP dan GPKG.3.
